Toronto Alternative Fashion Week

Last night I went to support a friend of mine who was modelling in the show. Her friend Courtney and her design partner featured their line Cherry Blossom. I prefer this show to Toronto Fashion Week just because its more organic, more creative. I missed the finale show where there were 6 dancing polar bears. I had so much fun and the clothes were fantastic! I did also get to see Sonny the winner of Project Runway Canada season 2!

Grey Gardens

This property has a very interesting history. It was once owned by the first aunt and first cousin of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onasis. Big Edie and Little Edie are remembered for their crazy eccentric bling, bling lives. They were from Park Avenue and they often vacationed in the Hamptons where they ended up turning their lives into complete ghetto and poverty. The story of how they went from riches to rags is unbelieveable. They ended up living with flea infested cats, racoons and no running water. The house was in such bad shape that in 1979 they had to sell it. No one not even the real estate agents wanted to go inside. They smell was so foul but ended up selling to former Washington Post Exec Editor for $220,000 which was a steal even for the 70s for this property which is worth in the tens of millions now. Domino inspires

I absolutely love these timeless yet contemporary dining room chairs. Featured in Domino magazine. I want white chairs but am afraid that they'll get dirty, not vintage and super cute, but just dirty so I think this is a great idea! I just have to find them in Toronto. Anyone know where I can find these? They're a MUST-HAVE JILL ITEM!!!

Craving of the week

I bought the bananas and have been waiting all week for them to ripen so I can make a loaf of chocolate chip banana bread. Homemade out of 100% love. Bake at home, you can control the amount of sugar and butter that goes into baked goods. That way you can feel like you're doing your body good instead of feeling guilty for your guilty pleasures... yum! banana bread here I come!

69 Vintage just opened up another store called 69 by the Pound. They're pretty good at stocking up their pieces and aren't ridiculously over priced for used goods. Check it out if your in the Roncesvalles area.

Taylor Momsen of Gossip Girl has great style! I personally love the green dress! She had a total 360º turn around since she first appeared on the show. I wonder who styles her?

Ellen Pompeo and her hubby are expecting their first child! Congratulations! I wonder if they'll write it into Grey's?

Travelling seems scary!

The Canadian airline was high jacked when a lone gunman with "mental challenges" broke through security and got on the plane as it was preparing for take off. A flight attendant bribed the man to accept cash and belongings in exchange for their freedom. 159 passengers and two crew members were able to escape CanJet Airlines flight 918 after less than an hour of captivity.

First Conquest shuts down leaving hundreds screwed.. now a high jacked plane.. and the prices are the lowest they've been in years... I love the hot sun but it seems a bit too eerie to go down south.. well at least for now.

Broken up?

Word on the street is that these two have broken up. I didn't really believe it until I saw that Ciara ft. Justin video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTYT-SiZeFo Its intense! Isn't she like 19? I don't know how old stars are these days. Anyway, I also got the vibe when Justin was on Oprah talking about how he's not ready to get married and stuff.. hmmm maybe its real. what 40 million buys you in NY

Here are the interior photos of Madonna's new 6 story, 40 million dollar townhome in the upper east side of Manhattan. Its alright, but 40 million? really? Even if I had it I don't think I'd buy that. She probably just told the old lady who was still living there to leave all her stuff and move out the next day if she paid her 40 million dollars! That's insane!

Just keeps on looking better

Scarlett Johansson remains to be one of my fav's. She decided to write an article for the Huffington Post responding to her new look after having dropped a significant amount of weight. Here's what she wrote.

“Since dedicating myself to getting into "superhero shape," several articles regarding my weight have been brought to my attention. Claims have been made that I've been on a strict workout routine regulated by co-stars, whipped into shape by trainers I've never met, eating sprouted grains I can't pronounce and ultimately losing 14 pounds off my 5'3" frame. Losing 14 pounds out of necessity in order to live a healthier life is a huge victory. I'm a petite person to begin with, so the idea of my losing this amount of weight is utter lunacy. If I were to lose 14 pounds, I'd have to part with both arms. And a foot. I'm frustrated with the irresponsibility of tabloid media who sell the public ideas about what we should look like and how we should get there.”

Scarlett then continues to write about women and eating disorders. She says, “How are we supposed to view articles highlighting celebrity cellulite and not sulk in the mirror, imagining a big red arrow pointing to various parts of our bodies? The media has packaged for us an unhealthy idea that one must suffer loss, be in the middle of a nervous breakdown, feel pressure from friends or coworkers, battle divorce or have a bitter dispute with an ex in order to get into acceptable bikini shape.”

Lily Allen comes to Toronto

Outspoken pop rocker chick Lily Allen comes to Toronto's Sound Academy on Wednesday, April 22 at 9pm. Tickets are $27.50. It was originally scheduled for the Phoenix Concert Theatre but has moved to the Sound Academy. Does anyone know where that is?

Halle in Bazaar

In Bazaar's upcoming fashion issue Halle Berry comes out strong. The photos are very elegant yet playful. She looks gorgeous and talks about her life as a mother. Her hair, make-up and attire is just fabulous! Way to go Halle!

Topshop coming to North America!

The famous British clothing shop is coming to New York! This is very exiciting! Kate Moss is one of the major designers and its affordable like H&M! This is great news in terms of fashion! I just hope it stays in New York and doesn't come to T-Dot, that way I'm not wearing what every other girl is wearing. I hate that! I really do.

A skeleton of a German retiree was found in a tree 30 years later. This man tied himself to the top of a tree and shot himself to death but no one has seen him up there until now? The German police said a 69 year old man disappeared in 1980 and was classified as missing. An 18-year-old hiker found a skeleton 11 meters up on a spruce tree. Isn't this so "A Nightmare Before Christmas"? Imagine you were walking and found a skeleton in a tree its so odd...

My very exciting 2009 project!

This summer I have the pleasure of redecorating my aunts condo. My cousin Didi and I are going to take her condo and her budget and doing a complete make over with 100% pure trust to make my aunts condo her dream home. We're all so very excited. Below are just a few ideas I was thinking. She loves earth tones, but seeing that she's a single lady I want to bring some feminine touches to the decor. Oh I can't wait this is going to be so much fun!

Only Authentic Chicken Chimichanga's please! Dine.to.com recommends Chimichanga Mexican Grill. Located at Yonge and Eglinton, this restaurant promises to bring authentic Mexican cuisine with ZERO PRESERVATIVES! Now that's my kind of restaurant. I'm going to check it out sometime this week. I'll let you know if its fantastic.. or not..

Here are some fabulous neutral outfits worn by my two favourite style icons. They both have neutral dresses with black leggings. They also both like to pick out their own clothes, I'm sure that still means they have stylists, which is awesome by the way but I think they still put the outfits together, accessories their own and decide what they're doing with their hair... loves...

The Hills premiere's tonight at 10pm on MTV Canada! Even though its fake through and through its so much drama!!!!

30-Rock

Michelle Obama is to appear on 30-Rock. If you watch all the prime time shows like me this should be pretty interesting. I wonder if she'd be funny.. or if they'll just use her for comic relief.. I'm sure she's smart and will find away to make herself work on the show the way she wants to. She's such an inspiration, waking up every morning at 4:30am to work out so that she can have the energy to live her life without being over tired or aging her body! I like her!

NKOTB and the Jabbawokeez!

The Jabbawokeez are on tour with the New Kids on the Block and they're even bringing the tour back to Toronto this summer in June! Their show is apparently insane not being some 5-10 minute show but rather an entire performance! Filipino! Filipino! (singing the Black Eyed Peas tune) can you hear it?

Teen Show news

Word on the street is that the second season of 90210 is going to change drastically from the first. One of the major changes is that season two will have a new cast with the first cast being secondary. I was just saying to a friend of mine, that the show has become a lot better from when it first started. Now they're going to change it again? We'll see if it works..

some jill work/inspiration...

Currently working on a few small projects at a time to save me from utter bordom, I've put one of my works up to get some input.. Its always up to the client to decide what is best for them but do you like with stems or without? I've illustrated the cupcakes and used a curly font to best suit this company.. I actually love to illustrate.

Hills to the City

Whitney Port is now saying she just wants to live a normal life. She doesn't like the constant video taping and that she's the main attraction. Well then move over Whitney, I'll be glad to jump on in take your job at DVF, take the giant paycheck and be the star that puts that Olivia Palermo person in her place. Sources say they really don't like each other in real life and she talks to Whit like she's a pet project. Its kind of funny on the show but if its real, which I have a hard time differentiating then that girl is EVIL!

Oprah's trying

Who knows what the heck is going on with these two, but this is the first time I'm actually interested.. Oprah is trying to get these two on her show to talk about their business. Sources say Oprah has been secretly talking to Rihanna, since late Feburary on a regular basis. Oprah also reportedly begged Riri not to take Chris back... They're young let them move on!

Destiny's Child round 6000

Are you ready for more crazy screaming and annoying ad libs that cover the rest of the group? Apparently Destiny's Child is back for more, but not by choice that is. They owe their label, Columbia Records one more album. There is no set date as yet, but they're saying probably around 2011.

Sadly even Starbucks being affected

The first closure of a Canadian Starbucks has happened today in Richmond B.C. Because the location itself was under-performing the coffee retailer decided to close. They were only given a 5 day notice. People please don't stop going to Starbucks its my comfort drink.. I go whenever I'm having a bad day!

Starbucks plans on closing 100 coffee shops outside the U.S. They haven't revealed which locations but its going down...
